Per-pupil funding, NYC's four K–12 programs
- NEST+m — $12,747
- WHEELS — $22,243
- Special Music School — $19,292
- Petrides School — $20,423
NEST+m also receives a single $225,000 foundation allocation — the same as any one school, regardless of grade bands — and one Parent Coordinator, one Intervention Teacher and one Social Worker for all thirteen grades. It receives no Title I and no specialized arts allocation. The full case, with sources, is in the PTA's advocacy letter.
Step 1Add your name
Every letter below is signed with what you type here. Nothing is sent or stored anywhere but your own browser.
Step 2Email these six offices
One tap each opens your mail app with the letter already written and addressed — a version tailored to what that office can actually do. Read it, add anything you want in your own words, send. Each letter copies the PTA at vpfundraising@nestmpta.org, so the co-presidents can see which offices are hearing from us.
-
Kamar H. Samuels — Chancellor, NYC Public Schools
The Fair Student Funding formula and the allocation of centrally funded positions are his to change. Everything else on this list is pressure on him.

-
Brad Hoylman-Sigal — Manhattan Borough President
Submits an annual budget priorities letter to City Hall and testifies at DOE budget hearings. Goes to both his general and budget inboxes in one send.

Christopher Marte — City Council, District 1
NEST+m is in his district. The Council holds the DOE budget hearings where the formula gets argued. This email copies his chief of staff, budget director, legislative director and community liaisons — the people who actually route it.

Harvey Epstein — City Council, District 2
The neighbouring Council district, home to a large share of NEST+m families. A second Council voice makes this a shared position rather than one member's constituent issue.

Grace Lee — NY State Assembly
Albany sets the state aid that flows into the DOE budget, and the Assembly can ask the city, on the record, why a citywide K–12 program is funded as one school.

John Liu — NY State Senator
Sits in Albany with oversight of New York City school funding, and has pushed on how city schools are resourced. A Senate question lands somewhere a parent letter cannot.

Step 3Message the Mayor
The Mayor's office takes no email — it takes a web form. Copy the message, then paste it in. The executive budget is where a formula fix either happens or doesn't.
The form has its own Subject box: copy the subject
Read the message first
